Hello Malay People. Please Buck Up!

First of all, I pray that RPK and DSAI will be alright. Let’s talk about something else other than politic.

I’ve just recently sacked a Malay staff. I can tell you that it is extremely heart-breaking. I am not a racist. I really believe in the spirit of “Muhibbah” and the concept of “Bangsa Malaysia” which is why I took him because I really want to give him a chance. I know he’s not highly talented but he’s a really simple person who at first showed a lot of promising sign and willingness to learn. I trained him patiently and worked with him for a few years. But it all went up to nothing. He is the second Malay I have sacked so far. I had to. I have no choice.

As time goes by, he’s taking more and more MCs. His performance dropped and he constantly got criticized by others while the complains about him are flying in every single month.

Still, I gave him chance after chance. Time after time, I tried to convince him that he gotta buck up or be left out. He took my kindness for granted and continued with his “lepak lah” attitude. In short, he was getting more and more lazy. His performance was crap. What’s more the management noticed.

I was heavily criticized for not sacking him. Still, I believe in giving people a chance. I had many sessions of heart to heart talk with him. It got worst. He’s faking MCs and he was caught by HR red-handed. No escape. HR gave me an option to sack or to give him a last warning letter. I chose sacking. I gave up hope on him. There’s nothing left in him that I can convince myself to see a change.

The next grueling moment is when I started to look for a replacement. As usual once the ad is out, the resumes kept flying in. You know what is so shocking my friend? I had 30 Malay people who applied for the job and majority are 1st class degree students. They are graduates from MARA, UKM, UTM, etc etc. Wonderful I thought.

So what is so shocking, you must be wondering. When I interviewed them, none can speak English. I mean it. None. Not even simple fucking English. I mean as simple as those Chow Kuey Teow taukeh can speak. How in the fucking hell these people can survive in Multi National Companies?

Nevermind. I test them in Malay. Goodness sake, not only they can’t speak English, they don’t have simple fucking I.Q. as well. I am really worried for Bolehland. I don’t mean to discredit these people but they gotta buck up. Although I did not hire them, I got them to know the importance of English and told them to take up lessons in English.

Come on man. Stop blaming the Chinese and Indians for your problems. Stop the fucking “Lepak Lah” attitude. Buck up! At least learn the necessary survival skill. Here is my hand if you need me. Allow me to guide you to the practical ways of life (take note of the word “Guide”, not control).

I don’t care if you are Malay, Chinese or Indians reading this post. Know this. We are Malaysian. We cannot survive without one another. Lend a hand to help a friend. If our Malay friends are weak in one thing or another, let’s help them. Let’s learn together and stop pointing fingers at each other because this is no gain for our already weaken nation. Let’s be a knowledge worker together. Let’s save our nation. Let’s be united as Bangsa Malaysia. Peace.

TCJ

Why you so worry, the gov will look
after them.
Did anyone look after us,we have work like shit and fend for ourself

Look after them? Look after what? Those poor Malay in the kampungs aint got nothing. They are not getting any special treatment. Buying houses get discount? First, you gotta have money to buy the houses. Getting to U with preference? First you gotta have money to afford your child to stay in KL or where ever it is. So let's stop pointing finger. Help them to help us to help the nation.

Good post TCJ

Comment poster number 2,

Your narrowness in your thinking is not appreciated. Please change your attitude.

How can we ever be strong as a nation if we have people like you who keeps pointing finger.

Yes. You have suffered and so have I, but that's not the point. In moving forward, we need to carry each other along. So please reconsider.

Whoa ! who is that SWT ?
if she is a muslim , solly lah.
I cannot date her, nanti kena jais/jawi/jakun / mawi/muis and whatever kais and mais.

From what you had written regarding your melayu subordinate i understand.
For those of you who have never worked for an international company/companies before.
You will never know.
Especially Japanese companies.
We do NOT hires melayu for sales and marketing dept. The only exception will be for the hire purchase sales dept.
It is the "rule" .
How many of you had the chance to visit Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony , Kenwood or the Korean Samsung sales and marketing office? You will notices theres "zero" melayu in those dept there.
I will not elaborate why.
As it will be very offensive and might be seditious to put in writing.
As RPK and some bloggers are facing such charges, i dont want the pigs or cops come knocking at my home nor office .
"Bolehland" already highlighted part of the reasons.
High absentee ratio , high MC record , lousy English language , "lepaking" culture and dot . dot .dot and dot.
Please do bucker up.As NEP is not forever.

"When I interviewed them, none can speak English."

Surely you jest! It is long been dictated that English is the most prominent language on Earth.

Provide some results from your interviews in order to provide some substance so that I can ponder in peace.

Also, I got hated not because I can't speak Malay, it's because I spoke PROPER Malay; apparently everyone prefers speaking "Rojak".

I'm not sure what to make of this...

tcj highly commendable
btw this so called 'lepak' attitude have been prevalent since before merdeka. it's the way of the people here and common in many other countries. in fact one may conclude we are all like that!
once, many years ago, when i started work, a kind elderly gentleman said this to me: young man we are ALL born lazy (i.e. we came out lying down and spoon-fed :o)
some of us, maybe a minority, choose to move and progress with the times (like learning/mastering to crawl, walk and then run). some, maybe the majority, choose to leverage benefits (from the govt). i was lucky to be working in an industrialized country.
anyone can compete or like tcj said bucker up but the keen eye to compete has to be nurtured when young preferably before 12 years and some may say even younger at before 5 years (some good examples in Tiger Woods, Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova plus some of our world sports beaters as well).
my encouragement to all is to do your job/business very well (no matter what comes may), everything else (hopefully good things) will follow in due course.
eventually we can ALL progress together.

Well,as a chinese I hope that v realise in order to beat Singapore 1st, End NEP. Then nobody will migrate to Singapore. Then LKY make Singapore join back Malaysia. Then help the Malays with a 'addict free' & 'corrupt proof' method, unlike NEP, which enrich UMNOputra. We cannot be suspicious of each other. Both will lose, only some ended as charcoal some ended as ash(Yg menang jadi arang, yg kalah jadi abu). If UMNO really wants the Malays 'beat' the chinese, I can give them tips but don't ISA anyone here.

FOR UMNO(who wants to beat chinese):
1) Force the chinese to have lots of babies. This will distracts us from earning lots of money.
2) Tells the Malays to have only 1 child. Say that we can bring illegal Filipinos from Sabah become a 'Bumiputra' & reduce the number of PTI in Sabah to push up the number of 'Malays(real & fake)'. Then u kill 2 birds in 1 stone.
