'Shocked' Muhyiddin calls for calm

Expressing shock over Mahathir’s resignation, Muhyiddin said it was important for Umno members to look after the well-being of the party and the position of the Malays because the component parties of Barisan Nasional (BN) would lose confidence in the coalition if Umno continued to face problems.

"If everyone were to take similar action, there will be no one left in Umno. Who will then champion the cause of the Malays?

"What will happen to our leadership in the Barisan Nasional and government?" he said when asked if Umno members in Johor who would also resign following Mahathir's resignation.

Tsu Koon: Umno will overcome this
Dr Koh Tsu Koon also expressed surprise over Mahathir's decision.
However, he believed that the party had the strength and experience to handle the sudden incident.

"After all, it had happened before in Umno history... as in the history of other political parties," he told Bernama.

No worries. Sabah is behind you
Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman expressed confidence that Umno would be able to recover from the present leadership crisis and return to normal.

Some problems, perhaps

Reaction to Dr. M's quitting UMNO

Political writers - Ong Kian Ming and Oon Yeoh:
"As a political tactician Dr Mahathir Mohamad never fails to surprise or disappoint. We had speculated yesterday that he would use an array of weapons in his arsenal to unseat Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, including playing the Malay race card. But we never expected him to use resignation as a weapon!"

Kedah's Pokok Sena Umno Division secretary - Ramli Mohd Yunus:
"He now had lost his locus standi to initiate leadership changes by quitting."If this was his war tactic, the former premier had made his enemies happy,"

DAP National Chairperson - Karpal Singh:
“He has clearly shown that he is incapable of becoming a statesman. He has been, and still remains, a gutter politician,”

Penang Chief Minister - Lim Guan Eng:
"The internal rivalry between Mahathir and Abdullah was part of the intense power struggle of disparate vested interests within Umno."

PAS president - Abd Hadi Awang:
"We feel that his decision only showed that Umno has become unqualified in leading the nation and being the saviours of the Malays,"
He added that PAS would welcome him if he were to join the party as his knowledge and experience could help bring it to even greater heights.

BolehJokes humors and thoughts:
BolehJokes Blogger - The Cheapskate Joker:
"I dont give a jackshit if he quits UMNO or pee in his pants. He's forgotten although not forgiven because of 22 years of rubbish. Anyway, he's not important and Uncle Hadi, are you kidding me? Why would you want an imbecile joining your PAS. Think twice Uncle Hadi."

Hardcore Pakatan Rakyat Supporter - IlovePakatan:
"I wish he never comes back. 22 years of telling me how to live my life. 22 years of extreme discrimination. 22 years of rubbish. And he's continuing his rubbish to influence people's mind. I grew up always dreaming of immigrating to Australia and Singapore because I feel my country dont appreciate people like me. I wish him all the worst!"

Attention seeker - Dr Mahadi
"This is how I like it! Hit me baby one more time. :)"

What a pile of rubbish!
