Latest update:
Umno holds emergency council meeting
Umno has called an emergency meeting of the party’s supreme council at 9pm, two days after former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad gave up his life membership.
Mahathir’s sudden decision to quit has triggered a number of emergency meetings, including one yesterday when Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi met with Umno parliamentarians to head off possible similar resignations.
The former premier, who had led Umno for 22 years, quit the party on Monday and said he would not rejoin until Abdullah stepped down, causing a panic in the ranks who feared a mass exodus of party members.
So far there has been little indication of a big number of members following Mahathir’s example.
The only notable resignations were Mahathir’s son Mokhzani and former minister and Kedah mentri besar Sanusi Junid, known to be a loyalist to the former party strongman.
Mass resignations in Umno branches
Joining Mokhzani today is former Kota Setar parliamentarian Dr Abdul Hadi Derani.
According to Star Online, 300 members from an Umno branch from Mokhzani's division in Merbok had resigned en masse.
This was followed by a few hundred members from another branch in Pokok Sena, also in Kedah, and a branch in Petaling Jaya Selatan in Selangor.
In the next few days, it is expected that a few more Umno branches will see mass resignations of members.
However, Mahathir's other son, Mukhriz did not follow suit, arguing that he would remain in the party to fight for reforms.
Nevertheless, Abdullah will need to ensure that the resignations today will not pick up momentum in the coming days and weeks.
(Malaysiakini) The morality of the government was put to the test in the Dewan Rakyat today when a controversial BN backbencher stood up to ask why the allegedly biggest corporate supporter to the US military campaign in Iraq has been allowed to invest in Malaysia.
Mukhriz Mahathir (Umno-Jerlun) demanded why Halliburton, a top American oil and gas services company and defence contractor, has been allowed to open a factory in Johor when the government had in the past professed to be against the war in Iraq.
“This corporation is involved in the murder of more than one million innocent Iraqi civilians and I want to know why our government has allowed it to open a factory in Johor,” he asked.
The youngest son of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who like his father, has been an ardent critic of the Iraq war and US president George W Bush.
In response, International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Jacob Dungau Sagan said that Halliburton - which has a US$7 billion no-bid oil and infrastructure contract in Iraq - was allowed to set up a factory only after the corporation no longer associates itself with supplying arms.

Derrick: Dont pick your father's saliva lah, botak.
Remi: Like father like son? Like clown, like retard more suitable.
Hop out of BN, Mahathir tells MPs
(Malaysiakini) Two days after quitting Umno, ex-president and premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has suggested another way to force his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to step down.
Barisan Nasional MPs should hop out of the coalition, he wrote in a concise 10-point post on his blog, Chedet.com
“We have heard a lot about the possibility of BN members hopping into opposition parties. If 35 members join the opposition, BN will fall. The opposition will win and form the next government,” he wrote.
He reasoned that BN representatives should not hop into any opposition party in Pakatan Rakyat.
“What will happen to all the BN party hoppers? They won’t become PM because surely the Pakatan leader will become PM. Other Pakatan members will also become ministers and deputy ministers,” he explained.
“How many of these posts remain available for BN hoppers? Surely not all of them will get a post. They will continue to be Pakatan followers just like how they followed Abdullah before they hopped (to the opposition).”
Mahathir said these former BN representatives would be free to state their stand on both government and opposition policies (if they become Independents).
The Abdullah administration would fall if a sufficient number of MPs leave the BN, thereby depriving the ruling coalition of even its simple majority in Parliament.
“A new government can only be formed if this is agreed to by those who (have) left BN because they carry enough votes to decide whether BN or Pakatan will acquire the majority in Parliament,” he wrote.
“If BN replaces Abdullah with somebody who is brave, those who left the coalition can give their support back to BN so it can become the government again.
“This is one way to force Abdullah to resign. After this, all who hopped (out of BN) can return to their respective parties. Believe me, those from the BN component parties who supported the opposition during the 12th general election will (give back) their support to BN after Abdullah is no longer PM.”
Mokhzani also quits
Thus far, Mahathir has found few members to emulate his departure from Umno. Parliamentarians from the party backed Abdullah at a meeting yesterday.
Mahathir’s son Mukhriz, who is Jerlun MP and who is vying to be Umno Youth chief, did not attend the meeting. He called a press conference to say he would not leave the party, but he too urged Abdullah to step down.
Another son - businessman and former Youth wing treasurer Mokhzani - announced his exit today.
“I made the decision to leave Umno because I agree with my father that Umno is no longer the real Umno like before,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
The BolehJokes humors and thoughts:
Gepur Sali: You mean under your so called independent will be any better? If so, why have Sabah been not developed for so many years? Eat shit lah, sucker.
Cecile: Truly laughable press statement. He only think of party and positions instead of the country. How stupid.
The Cheapskate Joker: Another day, another rubbish
What a pile of rubbish!

Go on, Malaysian lawmakers!
Go on with your adventures to the sky. Don't woooorry! We rakyat on earth can handle ourselves while the earth is showing VERY obvious cracks in the form of natural disasters, food crisis because the world's lawmakers are pandering to the skies!
Sigh, I wish the bloody politicians would stop this show of ego-stroking and start giving your people, the rakyat, some way to live.
Forget the phase " You can lead a horse to water, but only the horse decides whether to drink. " if the bloody water is diminishing.
Mamak Mahathir,
I think you can see for yourself now how unpopular you are.
Even your own son, for his own future position in UMNO did not resign as you called. Now you know you should and will get your indictments and punishments in jail with a black eye before you get your final heart attack Mamak. I and many others do not wish you well!
It is blatantly obvious to everybody except Umno gangs. That is because they are corrupted, suffering from denial syndrome, regressive Muslims, low IQ and living in the past. They would rather see and prefer the nation going to the dogs than having meritocracy and doing away with NEP.
Otherwise, how does one explain the rot and malaise this country is suffering?
We are reminding Najib and Mahathir about this, that Malaysia is not an Islamic state and it is not in a social contract.
Malay Sakai, so please tell Badawi about it. Umno has always threatened the non-malays with riots and chaos. Nobody in Malaysia has started riots and chaos except for Umno.
Umno has a deep rooted tradition of starting riots and chaos when every time they can't debate sensibly.
The social contract is there alright and many do not question it. But is the social contract followed according to the spirit or hijacked to the benefit of a few?
Just look at the number of huge projects that has failed is proof enough. Yet these are treated like normal - part of everyday happening.
Gosh……….
All the social contract talk does not hold any water, when you have people in power, namely Umno abusing their power. In fact, they are indirectly telling you, that they have the right to abuse the power. Is this fair? Of course it is unfair. You don't even need a social contract to tell you whether it is fair or not.
Social contract didn't say that Malaysia is an Islamic state. On the contrary the social contract expressly stated that Malaysia was and is not an Islamic state.
Now the deliberate misinterpretation, apparently accepted by Umno, is that Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak) is an Islamic state!
Sabah and Sarawak would never have joined Malaysia if they had known that Malaysia will be deemed an Islamic state.
If the social contract meant that the non-malays would merely exchange the British masters for the malay masters, they would never have agreed to join the malays for independence.
What is the difference of having the British lording over the non-malays and having the malays doing the same to the non-malays! Probably worse. At least the British had some respect for fairness while the malays have none!
So to get independence, the malays needed the non-malays. Without the non-malays agreement, the British would not have granted independence. So, is that not also part of the social contract? It is not a one-sided malay right. The malays would not be where they are without the non-malays.
The truth hurts.
The Chinese or the yellow race is what brings progress. Just look at Asia……….is enough.
Whether they do it internationally or locally they will survive.
We can distinctly see the lowering of Malaysia standards of living as the percentage of Chinese in this country goes down.
In the 70s we were tops with 40 over percent of Chinese and today with only 25 percent we are far behind Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea.
Main reason is the number of such Chinese migrating to these countries - the best ones and rich ones.
Next ten years as the percentage goes even lower, we would be nearing Indonesia or Philippines.
Meanwhile enjoy your stay and the good time.
On the whole as the Chinese spreads out throughout the world, the average standards of these will have much higher standards of living over others.
Isn't a shame to call it Islamic when the entire Umno regime is corrupted to the core and acts with impunity as though there is no God.
I would say Kelantan is more Islamic than the entire Umno regime.
This Umno regime violates every single injunction of God.
In Malaysia, the Chinese are suppress. Yes, I think so too. Is not so much a matter, whether the rich Chinese entrepreneur made it, but is about our rights as a Malaysian citizen!
As a Malaysian citizen, don't you think that we have the rights to affordable education like anyone else in the world? As a Malaysian citizen, don't you think that we have the rights to assemble, protect our religion and voice our expression?
I can almost guarantee you that the Umno malays treat the Europeans and Japanese better that their own Malaysian Chinese.
Don't the Umno government realize that there are many more Chinese entrepreneurs who didn't made it! There are many who still live below poverty line with no education.
If you attend some of the Umno division meetings or Umno Youth meetings, the amount of Chinese bashing in the meeting is unbelievable.
But if the non-malays were to hold a meeting talking about non-malays rights such as citizen rights or religious rights, immediately Umno brand the non-malays as causing racial and religious tension.
If the malays can't treat their own citizens fairly, how much respect do you think they will earn from the international community!
Obviously some leaders like Mahathir, don't give a shit what international community think of Malaysians, until he needs money or trade, then he will start to bribe.
Robert Kuok, so called richest Malaysian has set up his head office in Hong Kong more than 20 years ago because he knew that he will never be able to expand his business had he continued in Malaysia.
Krishnan, spend most of his time in London. The richest Malaysians now are the AP kings and they are still growing. The malays already control 45% of the KLSE and had it counters like Carsberg, Genting, Guiness, Magnum, Toto, their market share is probably 55%.
Can we publish the names and identify all the nominees and settle the issue once and for all! The people who are suffering are all the poor irrelevant of race.
The malays have been so selfish. Chinese, Indians……….leave Malaysia if you don't like it here that is what malays always say. Malays have to see the fact that they are also pendatang from Indonesia. Even Pakistanis with PR enjoy privileges like malays.
The Orang Asli have been always marginalised. Their option is convert to Islam to live like others. The malays have set in their mind Malaysia and everything belong to them.
Even Indonesia doesn't have such racist category. Nowhere else in the world have bumi/non-bumi double standards citizenship. So what Lee Kuan Yew say is right.
You somebody miss the point here. You always look at the successful Chinese entrepreneur but you didn't look at those non-successful one.
As for the malays, you don't have to fight it out with other competitors. All you need is to join Umno and you will get government project. That in fact is the biggest corruption. The malays are usually the biggest corruptors in most government business.
Let us just say, all Chinese become Muslims. There will still be difference between Chinese and malays. I can still guarantee you that the Chinese will still be more successful, because we don't sit under the coconut tree and hoping for coconut to fall. (As how the late Tunku Abdul Rahman describes the malays.)
Let me tell you, the Japanese, Koreans are also corrupt. But they are still more successful. Corruption is not the major hindrance of the progress for the race. It is the race's self determination and initiative that decide the race progress.
NEP is the biggest legalise corruption practice ever establish in world history. Umno, in the name of malays protector, uses NEP to enrich their families and their friends.
If you are not one of them, malay dude, I pity you. But if you are a smart malay, you should be like Japanese.
Malays have dominated the police, army, government ministry, government projects and KLSE big capital companies. What else do you want? Bungalow house, Mercedes Bens and maybe a printing money machine.
I am utterly sickened by the deleterious and tirade spewed forth from the mouths of these Umno imbeciles. They certainly will not get my vote come this election. Such recalcitrants are incorrigible and their warped-minds will be their downfall, lest they sincerely repent.
I refer to the comment - Mahathir did more harm than good.
I cannot but agree with some writer. As I plan to move my family overseas, I feel really sad for my country and friends I am going to leave behind.
Mahathir was a great man and he could have done a lot for the country. He was determined, intelligent, sarcastic, well qualified and witty but unfortunately, somewhere along the way he succumbed to human failings like all of us.
He became a slave to ego and greed and as a result, his heart was corrupted and he could not see beyond himself. Alas, it is too late now.
I can see no great Malaysian leaders in the pipeline. Initially, I thought that Hisham could have been a great leader being a professional but after the 'keris' incidents and his racists remarks, I know he won't be going far.
A great leader must be a leader for all, irrespective of race.
Life is full of regrets when we look back but the one regret I am not prepared to have is my children's future as I may not be around to see the next generation lead their life. As parents, what are we working for if not for our children, the next generation?
Sad to say, most of our leaders cannot see that and ironically, they are the one blessed with the power to shape the future generations, including their children.
Those Umno pea-brained morons are products of Mahathir. Difference is that Mahathir did all the talking and walking and kept his morons in cages.
Now, Badawi is not the talker nor walker, if fact, he is the sleeper. So much that these pea-brained morons have been let loose to display their stupidity of the highest degree.
Malaysia is now famous internationally for having morons running the country, one such moronic act was being performed live on Al Jazeera. Please don't mention anymore name, we may have underage kids reading.
Malays are more suppressed in their own country by Umno than the suppression suffered by Chinese or Indians. For their pains they are offered the rotten carrots of Ketuanan Melayu and NEP.
The suppression of malays is deep and internal while the suppression of Chinese and Indians is only surface in terms of benefits and material things. That is why some Chinese have the cheek to say that NEP benefits them as it makes them stronger.
The suppression of malays is mental and spiritual enforced by KGB police type tactics. The suppression of malays may be an eternal and permanent one. Umno is a cancer to malay society.
Don't be like that, stupid Mahathir! Just look after your own shit! You are in a deep pool of dinosaur shit!
Singapore has all the reasons to be proud, beat your stupid ass a million times over in every area of governance of a country:
- Good government, close to 100% corruption free
- Education systems
- Economic progress (shit, compare Malaysia foreign reserves to Singapore, shame)
- City planning and cleanliness
- Transport systems
- SIA (while MAS had to sell shares to your crony and then relegated from buying back - hanky panky!)
- Racial harmony
- Housing development
- Health care systems
- etc……….
Long list to blur your old blurry eyes! You have got 22 years, not only did you not manage the country well, you messed it up.
Just compare the education backgrounds of the two country's cabinet members, and listen to the ministers of both parliaments speak. Even kids can tell you we have a zoo in Malaysia parliament with bunch of stupid monkeys.
Singapore has all the reasons to be proud of. But they don't necessary taunt your thin skin emotional violent loose canon big mouth freaks.
You know from top to bottom, you have shamed your entire race to the max. The world is no longer isolated - it is borderless, news travels faster than the sound of your stinky fart.
And the whole world gets to see the stupidity and idiocy that so define you and the self proclaimed sons-of-the-night-soil.
Malaysia is slowly and surely turning into a very sick place. We must finish off Umno and its cronies to cure the country from this acute sickness.
