Bolehland Daily: Nazri blames EC for ink fiasco

Latest:
(Malaysiakini) Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz faulted the Election Commission for the debacle over the indelible ink as the commission had not consulted the attorney-general for his advice. In his winding-up speech, Nazri told Parliament that the cabinet had told EC chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman two weeks before the Feb 13 dissolution of Parliament that it rejected the commission's proposal to mark voters’ thumbnail with indelible ink. Nazri also insisted that there was no order for the EC to cancel its plans for the indelible ink and that there is a difference between the cabinet rejecting a proposal and an order for a proposal to be scrapped. He said that the eventual scrapping of the indelible ink four days before the general elections was among the reasons Barisan Nasional lost many votes due to the perception that it was seeking to win through illegal means.

On the other hand, Dr Dzulkifli Ahmad (PAS-Kuala Selangor) recommended the sacking of EC Chairman.

The BolehJokes humors and thoughts:
Farina: And the blame game begins. Sandiwara chapter 2 "It wasn't me"
Ahmad Faizal: Rashit will be sweating in his pants every now and then. Looks like one thing at a time being exposed. The land of boleh have so many hidden shit waiting to be exposed as time comes.

'Indelible ink conspiracy': Report lodged

Two polls watchdog groups today lodged a police report against Election Commission chief Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for the last-minute cancellation of the indelible ink in the March 8 general elections. MCPXAlso named in the police report are two other key individuals who were allegedly responsible for the abrupt reversal in the use of the ink - inspector general of police Musa Hassan and attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail.

The groups - Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih) and National Institute for Electoral Integrity (NIEI) - claimed that the cabinet led by Abdullah had “conspired” with the EC under Abdul Rashid to suspend the use of the ink.“This is a conspiracy between the prime minister and the EC chairman to rob our rights (as voters),” said NIEI executive director Amin Iskandar after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur.

Last Saturday, Abdul Rashid unwittingly revealed that the cabinet had objected to the use of the indelible ink and that he was ordered to take the blame for the decision.

EC’s reasons absurd

NIEI’s Amin described the reasons given by EC in the suspension of the ink as absurd.
“I’ve been to Afghanistan and Nepal (to observe elections) and these are post-conflict nations, yet they never had such nonsensical excuses,” said Amin, who has participated in missions to observe elections in a number of countries for over 10 years.

Rashit: Oh shit! I gotta pack guys. See ya later.
Mahadi: So you'll be joining me? Let's go to Zimbabwe. Nice country :)

Uthaya's new bid for freedom

A fresh habeas corpus has been filed by a detained Hindu Action Rights Force (Hindraf) leader against the Internal Security Ministry and Kamunting detention centre authorities for medical negligence and endangerment to life.

Say "NO TO ISA" (ISA = Illegal Sakai Act)
Lawyer N Surendran filed the habeas corpus application at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today on behalf of P Uthayakumar who claimed he has been denied medication for his diabetes. Uthayakumar is also claiming that the camp authorities refused to admit him into the National Heart Institute (IJN) despite being told by doctors to do so. The hearing is set for June 25.

Umno accepts Mahathir's resignation

Umno's top decision-making body, the supreme council, has today accepted the resignation of former president Dr Mahathir Mohamad from the party. Party deputy president Najib Abdul Razak told reporters after almost a three-hour meeting that the party had received and accepted Mahathir's resignation. Najib also said that he hoped Mahathir would rejoin the party sometime in the future. At the press conference, Najib said that the meeting discussed two matters - Mahathir's resignation as well as on how to strengthen the party. Najib added that the supreme council members also pledged to continue their support for Abdullah.

Chua hands 'evidence' to panel

Former MCA vice-president Dr Chua Soi Lek today revealed that he had received a ‘report' which he believed contained information on the alleged snoop squad set up to spy on party leaders. While he could not vouch for the authenticity of the report, Chua said establishing the veracity of the content was now the prerogative of the party's three-member panel probing the existence of the snoop squad."I have handed over the report to the panel. However, on the details of the report, I would like to keep it secret. If it was revealed, it would be unfair to the panel," he told a press conference after testifying at the panel.
However, Chua revealed that the report dwelled into three main issues:

  • That a person accused of being part of the snoop squad, Tee Aun Chuan, had met top party leaders to discuss the squad's activities in several specific dates,

  • Detailed information on the clout of various factions within the party, and,
  • That Chua should not receive the support of the party for suggesting that "a certain individual" should contest in the general election

The BolehJokes humors and thoughts:
Hannah: Ohhh kesian Mahadi. Anngggugu.. angggugu!

Ong La Ling: Oh shit! Stupid Chua ar. La Chuan, how la? We are in deep shit.

Q: Is Umno in trouble?
Najis: As usual, I deny. Hehe.

What a pile of rubbish!

1) EC is responsible to the whole of Malaysia and must give a fair answer. If not, Rashid please step down and hide like Lingam.

2) Free Uthaya so that he can have proper medication. Politic aside. This is human life.

3) It's no surprise that UMNO accept Mahathir's resignation. After what he has done, they wont be rushing to the door to stop him from going out. As for Mahathir's move, I think it's childish.

4) I somehow believe that the snoop squad do exist but I'm not sure who is behind it. Chua Soi Lek must have valid proof. Anyhow, MCA is cracking along with UMNO. Time to go for 1 party form.

4 thoughts as well but in a poetry form:

UMNO is cracking while Pakatan is thriving,
ISA is going while fair justice is coming,
Rashid will be hiding while EC will be reforming,
Chua Soi Lek is wanking while Ong Ka Ting is packing.
